Peace Corps

The US Peace Corps was established by President John F. Kennedy in March 1961. In that year, volunteers began serving in 5 countries. Since then over 220,000 volunteers have served in 140 countries, working alongside stakeholders in the communities they serve to solve critical problems.

The Peace Corps Mission

To promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:
  1. To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
  2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
  3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.

This blog is an effort towards the third goal of the Peace Corps mission to promote a better understanding of Jamaican peoples for Americans back home in the USA.
